The MWMO funded a system to capture, clean, and reuse stormwater runoff from a 15-acre area around St. Anthony Village’s city hall. Collected runoff is stored in a 500,000-gallon reservoir beneath a stormwater pond. The captured stormwater is used to irrigate a 20-acre site that includes a municipal park.

The system also captures filtered backwash from the adjacent water treatment plant. In addition to reducing irrigation costs for the city, the system reduced the amount of phosphorus discharging to nearby surface waters by an estimated 77.5 percent.
