The MWMO offers grants of varying amounts to eligible organizations to support clean water and habitat inside the MWMO watershed. From rain gardens to neighborhood cleanup days to large-scale stormwater treatment systems, the MWMO provides funding for a variety of projects to promote smart, sustainable stormwater management.
Capital Project Grants
Capital Project Grants are designed for large-scale, innovative stormwater management projects with a high potential for protecting or improving water quality and habitat.
Stewardship Fund Grants
Stewardship Fund Grants support community-led efforts to manage stormwater, control pollution and improve water quality and habitat. The MWMO offers three types of Stewardship Fund Grants for eligible applicants, with grant awards ranging from a maximum of $3,000 to $50,000, depending on the nature of the project.
If you’re ready to take action to improve water quality and habitat in your community, the MWMO has resources to assist you. Whether you’re looking to adopt a storm drain, host a community cleanup day for your neighborhood, become a Master Water Steward, or simply volunteer for environmental stewardship projects in your community, we can help.
Adopt-a-Drain
Storm drains flow directly to local lakes, rivers, and wetlands, acting as a conduit for trash and organic pollutants. The Adopt-a-Drain program asks residents to adopt a storm drain in their neighborhood and keep it clear of leaves, trash, and other debris to reduce water pollution.
Community Cleanups
The MWMO provides support for neighborhood organizations and other community groups to conduct their own cleanup events. This includes tools and other resources to use for the cleanup as well as promotional materials and other useful documents.
