Expectations

Attitude and Teamwork

  • Be respectful of others–your team, your Supervisors, guest speakers and other people using the parks.
  • Be respectful of the environment–nature, animals and property.
  • Work as a team. Take care of equipment.
  • Listen, learn and do your best.
  • Have a positive attitude.
  • Ask questions.

 Attendance

  • Be at work each day at 7:30 AM.
  • Call your Supervisor before 7:30 AM if you are sick or must miss work.
  • Call your Supervisor before 7:30 AM if you are going to be late to work.

 Appearance

  • Wear your Mississippi River Green Team T-Shirt at all time. This is your uniform and may not be altered.
  • Do not sag your pants or show any midriff.
  • Wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes. Laces or velcro are preferred. Flip-flops, clogs, crocs and sandals are not allowed.
  • Gang- related colors, doo rags (e.g. hair nets/wraps) are not allowed.

 Work Rules

  • Inappropriate language will not be tolerated at any time.
  • Electronic devices should be left at home or turned off during work hours. The MRGT and Teen Teamworks are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  • Cell phones may NOT be used at work. If your parents or guardians need to reach you during the work day, they need to call your Supervisor. Cell phones will be collected and stored at the beginning of the work day and returned at the end of the day.
  • Fighting is not allowed.
  • Flirting is not allowed – keep your hands to yourself.
  • Smoking, alcohol, drugs and weapons are never allowed.
  • Only English will be spoken during the entire work day (including work, lunch and breaks).
  • Bring your own lunch each day. You will not be allowed to buy food, drinks or snacks. Water will be provided throughout the day.
  • Stay with your crew at the work site for the full work day (during work, lunch and breaks).
  • Keep hydrated – drink water throughout the day.
  • Cross streets carefully at crosswalks.
  • Do not participate in dangerous activities (such as climbing trees, disturbing hives etc).
  • Properly wear and use your personal protective equipment (gloves and vests will be provided).

 Consequences

  • If any of the above rules are not followed, the following process will take place at the discretion of your supervisor:
  • Verbal warning.
  • Letter sent home. Letter must be signed and returned with a parent signature before returning to work.
  • Suspension from work for one day without pay.
  • Termination from the program.
  • If at any time, your supervisor feels you are unable to continue work the rest of the day due to unacceptable behavior, you may be sent home without pay.
