MWMO Funding: $27,030
Partners: Metro Blooms, Sentyrz Market
This project installed rain gardens that capture stormwater runoff from 20,000 square feet of impervious surfaces at the Sentyrz Market in Northeast Minneapolis. Native plants were utilized to create habitat and maximize stormwater infiltration. The improvements reduce stormwater runoff at a rate of approximately 22,000 gallons per 1-inch rain event.
In addition to preventing pollution by capturing stormwater runoff, the project created new opportunities for education and outreach to the community. Educational interpretive signs were added to teach visitors about the stormwater treatment practices used on the site.
