The Mississippi Watershed Management Organization works to protect and improve water quality, habitat and natural resources in an urban watershed that drains directly into the Mississippi River. We are a joint-powers local government unit and one of approximately three dozen watershed organizations in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.

Board of Commissioners
The MWMO’s Board of Commissioners is its governing body. The board has ultimate decision-making authority over the MWMO’s projects, programs, staffing and budget. There are seven voting MWMO commissioners — one from each of the MWMO’s member communities.
Citizen Advisory Committee
The Mississippi Watershed Management Organization’s Citizen Advisory Committee is composed of volunteers who provide guidance and oversight of the MWMO. Citizen advisors review the MWMO’s annual budget, make recommendations on grant proposals and assist with planning, outreach and other activities.

Annual Activity & Financial Reports

The Mississippi Watershed Management Organization is committed to protecting, managing and improving the water resources and habitat within our watershed boundaries. We proactively seek out future opportunities for stormwater treatment across the watershed that fits with the desired land use of the redevelopment occurring.
