The MWMO is pleased to host Upstream, an art project by Minneapolis ceramicist and public artist, Anna Metcalfe.

The exhibit features a display of tea cups with stories collected by the artist through a series of tea parties, which she convenes to encourage people from within the same watershed to reflect on their connections with water. When a tea party participant receives their cup of tea, they read the story that is printed on the cup to the rest of the group. After sharing the stories on the cups, participants are encouraged to share their own water stories and draw or write them down to be printed on future cups and shared at future tea parties. Thus the stories, like water, are being passed down from upstream.

The exhibit at MWMO features a collection of tea cups, photos and video, as well as a comfortable seating area, complete with tea, tea cups, and paper for recording stories. Visitors can participate in the exhibit and project to whatever degree they like.

Anna will be hosting continuous tea parties at Stormwater Park and Learning Center on Saturday, May 19, from noon until 8 p.m. She is also available to facilitate small group tea conversations. If you are interested in participating in a tea conversation or convening a group to do so, please contact us for more information.
