Green Infrastructure Inspection Team (GrIIT) builds on the skills developed by youth on the Mississippi River Green Team. This summer employment program is geared for 16-18 year-olds who have completed two years of the Mississippi River Green Team or a similar program. Team members further their skills around ecological restoration and green infrastructure maintenance. Youth who complete this program are ready to join the green workforce with a solid foundation and significant experience in operations and maintenance of green infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Work on a team to inspect and maintain green stormwater infrastructure features across Minneapolis.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Learn about how green stormwater infrastructure functions on the landscape and how it protects water and
the natural environment. - Learn to use new tools.
- Learn about pathways into green stormwater infrastructure jobs
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Previous member of the Mississippi River Green Team or other conservation employment program.
- The ability to work well with all types of people and follow the instructions of an on-site supervisor.
- Desire to gain new skills in environmental management and green stormwater infrastructure maintenance.
- Dedication to developing a good work ethic and personal skills such as being dependable and responsible,
exhibiting proper work conduct, how to use constructive feedback and maintaining a positive attitude. - Enthusiastic about learning new things and sharing knowledge with others.
Hours:
- This is a summer program with 32-35 hours/week during the summer (mid-June through late-August).
- Monthly workdays during the school year
