Aaron McCalip
After leaving the Mississippi River Green Team, Aaron McCalip (2011–2013) went on to work as a river educator with Urban Wilderness Canoe Adventures, a partnership program between Wilderness Inquiry and the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area. Aaron’s job was to help connect people to the natural world and interpret the historic and cultural resources of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. His favorite parts of the job were working with kids and canoeing down the Mississippi River.
Aaron said being on the Mississippi River Green Team opened many doors for him. He realized he liked working outdoors and said he was “introduced to a whole new field.” He has fond memories of his time on the team and said that the best part was the conversations, jokes and riddles with his teammates. Aaron has completed a one-year program at Minneapolis Community & Technical College studying fitness, and hopes to explore the field of habitat restoration next.
