Jackson Pond
The MWMO partnered with the City of Columbia Heights to improve both the water-retaining and water-quality capabilities of a key stormwater holding pond. New additions include a retaining wall, re-graded slopes, a lift station and an underground iron-enhanced filtration system.
Stevenson Ravine
This ravine behind the Robert Louis Stevenson Elementary School in Fridley was discharging sediment into the backwaters of the Mississippi River. The MWMO and its partners restored the 220-ft. long ravine in 2014.
Grace Center for Community Life
The Grace Center's parking lot and asphalt playground were removed to create 60,000 square feet of new bioretention areas planted with native plants.
St. Anthony Stormwater Reuse System
The MWMO funded a system to capture, clean and reuse stormwater runoff from a 15-acre area around St. Anthony Village’s city hall. Collected runoff is stored in a 500,000-gallon reservoir beneath a stormwater pond. The captured stormwater is used to irrigate a 20-acre site that includes a municipal park.
Heritage Park
One of the MWMO’s first major capital projects, the Heritage Park project implemented a stormwater “treatment train” in the middle of a 145-acre North Minneapolis housing development.
